Concert at St John's 1964 ()

NA, 10 October 1964
Part of the Other series, preached at a Special Service service

This concert, titled "Music for a Royal Occasion", was recorded at an unknown date during 1964 at St. John's and features organist Dorothy Glover and other musicians. Vocal soloist was Dr Joan Farrar (nee Rowlands). She sang an alto aria from Bach's St Matthew Passion accompanied by Dorothy Glover. Joan, now retired in Sydney, confirmed this when in recent times she was sent a copy of the recording; she also identified the string (viola?) player [detail to be updated when sleeve notes are located]. Jenny Gill recalls singing in the programme, along with Valerie Proverbs.
It may well be our earliest extant audio recording.
