This a very early coloured painting, possibly watercolour, depicting a view north which is towards St John’s Church and Launceston. The scene shown appears that it predates the Prince’s Square making the creating date to be anywhere between 1830-1835. A large building, visible as a prominent structure in centre of the painting, could possibly be Macquarie House which was completed 1830.Historical Details
