Cameron, John (1838-1866). Strong supporter of St John’s, he purchased a new East window for the 1866 chancel extension but died before it arrived. Given in his memory by daughter Emma. Now (since 1938) central window in upper south wall of nave – subject “The Ascension”.Historical Details
Made by Ferguson and Urie in Melbourne, this window was first installed in the then new chancel at east end of the old St. John's Church. When this was demolished around 1908, it was stored before being temporarily installed in the north wall of the old nave, before being relocated to the present location when the nave was rebuilt in 1938.It is a splendid example of the craft of stained glass making during the height of the gothic revival period.
