Physical Description

Historical Details

As far back as 1984, then rector Revd. Ernest Horth had urged the reconfiguration of the chancel area to allow for "worship in the round". Plans were drawn up, but opposition was fierce, and it was not until 2003 that the idea was again put forward, this time resulting in a flexible area that worked well for services of worship and other events such as concerts. It was mostly constructed by voluntary labour.
At time of writing, it was flagged for replacement as part of the 2023 redevelopment plan.
