Historical Details
Hundreds of Anglicans and other community members gathered in Princes Square, opposite St. John's Church, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Anglican Church arriving in northern Tasmania (then Van Diemens Land) in the person of Revd. Robert Knopwood, who rode past isolated settlements and through the bush to minister to the faithful in the north. Some, including Bishop John Harrower, wore period clerical garb.
