Memorial plaque affixed to external east wall of former curate's cottage in Elizabeth St, accessible by a narrow laneway from driveway in motel units  that occupy site of former Sunday School. 
Inscription:
ERECTED BY THE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS OF ST. JOHN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL AS A TOKEN OF LOVE AND ESTEEM TO THE MEMORY OF GEORGE BABINGTON,
WHO WAS SUPERINTENDENT FOR 21 YEARS.
DIED DECEMBER 29TH 1888

FREDERICK LAKIN,
WHO WAS LIBRARIAN FOR 25 YEARS
DIED MARCH 9TH 1889)
THEY REST FROM THEIR LABOURS, AND THEIR WORKS DO FOLLOW THEM
Historical Details
In the 1890s, the teachers and students of the Sunday School erected a 'large marble plaque in the parish hall in memory of George Babington (d. 1888) and Frederick Lakin (d. 1889). See linked biographies. The plaque was placed on the inside wall that became become an outside wall within the hotel complex next door, but since 1990 stands in history room.
