Historical Details
Revd. Marcus Blake Brownrigg died in 1890. See linked biography. The pulpit canopy was erected in his memory by his family in 1938, at the time of the completion of the rebuilding of the nave. His son, Harold Blake Brownrigg, was a churchwarden at the time, and granddaughter Sybil was active in choir and Sunday School teaching.The carving can be safely attributed to Gordon Cumming who was involved in several carving commissions at the time of the 1938 building project.
