Archdeacon Leonard Sutton was rector of St. John's from 1949 to 1961. See linked biography. A diocesan faculty for the cross was granted 29th January 1976, 10 years after the death of Archdeacon Sutton, so it would seem that his wife, Kathleen, was responsible for the gift of the cross.It is unsure what connection Ruby N. Sutton had with the Suttons, but she was not his mother nor daughter.Materials
