Historical Details
Glebe lands were allocated by the government to either St. John's Church or the incumbent from early colonial times. They were intended to provide a source of income to fund the ministry of the church, and were commonly leased to farmers in the earliest period.
Over the decades, the glebe lands were intruded upon by railway, rifle range, the Henry Street tip and roadworks. Sections of the land were removed from farming and leased to businesses during the 20th century. Around 2010, the remaining farmland was sold, leaving only a title adjoining Boland St, currently (2024) leased to a landscaping supplies business.
