There is no evidence of visitor books earlier than 1916. In the early volume, the details consisted of date, name of visitor and address - full or partial. The most recent volume included a “comments” column, with many expressions of appreciation of the beauty of the building, or in some cases, family connections from the past.

There has not been a visitor book since 2020.

Historical Details

While not as significant as some of our other documents, the visitor books give an indication that St. John's was a point of interest to visitors to Launceston - those with church or family connections, and those who wanted to look at the beautiful interior.
