Biography
The Reverend John A. Brook, rector, 1987 – 1993 Revd. John Brook took up his appointment as rector of St. John\'s Anglican Church, Launceston in May 1987.

He was born at Liverpool, N.S.W. and educated at Sydney Technical High School. He worked as an apprentice and electrical fitter for ten years before training for the Anglican Church ministry at Moore Theological College, Sydney. John Brook was ordained in Adelaide in 1955 and served on the staff of Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide. He went on to serve also as rector of the Parishes of Rozelle, Normanhurst, Hurstville and Castle Hill in Sydney. He was secretary of the Church Missionary Society in South Australia and also Regional Secretary for Aboriginal work in Northern Australia. He served 4 years as a CMS missionary in Indonesia as a chaplain in Jakarta and also served for 5 years as an Examining Chaplain for the Archbishop of Sydney.

John Brook was married to Joan. They had two children, David (deceased) and Kathryn, and four grandchildren who lived in Sydney during the time of John’s incumbency at St. John’s.
