Biography
The Right Reverend Ross J. Nicholson, Dip.A., B.Com., M.A.(Theol.) rector, 2005- 2016
Born in 1957, Ross Nicholson completed secondary education in 1974 at Sydney Technical High School, Bexley before studying commerce at University of NSW, graduating in 1979. From 1978 to 1981, he worked for Fusion Australia, including a stint as a radio announcer for 2CBA-FM's "Captain Midnight Show." His earlier involvements in ministry included a period as lay youth leader at St Jude's, Dural, a ministry traineeship at St Paul's, Seaforth, and a further period of ministry traineeship at St Philip's, Caringbah. From 1982, he was studying at Moore Theological College in Sydney, graduating in 1986 and later completing his Master of Arts (Theology) in 1995.

Ross was made deacon in 1986 while serving as assistant minister at St Stephen's Anglican Church, Penrith, and was ordained priest later that year. From 1988 to 1998, he was minister in residence at Rossmore Anglican Church, after which he served as rector of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Willoughby NSW, during which time he also served as area dean for the Willoughby Deanery from 2003.

In 2005, he accepted the position as rector of St. John's Anglican Church, Launceston, a position he held until 2016. During that period, he served as Mission Support Officer for the Tamar region from 2005 to 2008, when he was consecrated as Assistant Bishop for the Diocese of Tasmania, designated Missioner Bishop Projects & Training.

After 11 years at St John's, Ross was invited back to Sydney to be rector of St Alban's, Epping NSW. Through his years in ministry, Ross has gained skills in re-visioning parishes for mission and the development of property to enhance ministry. It was for his experience in both these areas he was called to lead St Alban's.

Ross is married to Jennifer (Jenny), a registered nurse specializing in palliative care who has also been involved in nurse education. Jenny has taken an active role in ministry in the various congregations she has been part of, and has a mentoring ministry with younger women as well as a vision for encouraging clergy spouses. They have three adult children, James, Sarah and Samuel, and in recent years, became grandparents.

Ross' ministry interests preaching, teaching, leadership theory and practice, team building, discipleship and church growth. Aside from ministry he enjoys gardening, bonsai, bass guitar, cooking, politics, woodworking and reading.
