Biography
Ada Ross Hewton (nee Steedman) (1866 - 1942) was president of the Ladies’ Committee of Broadland House Church of England Girls School for many years, and one of the houses was named “Hewton House” after her.

The daughter of George Henry Steedman and Frances Elizabeth Steedman (nee Smith), she is mentioned in the "Geelong Advertiser" in 1887 and 1888 in connection with musical performances as a vocalist, the latter in a performance of Mendelsohn's "Elijah". 
She married Revd. David Ross Hewton who served a curacy in Geelong. Some other details of her life can be found in the linked biography of her husband.
She died in 1942 aged 75 and was buried at Carr Villa Memorial Park alongside her husband. Her address at time of death was Kenyon St, Newstead.
