Biography
Evalynne Denham (nee Riley) (1882-1968) was married to Harry Denham in Halifax, Yorkshire in 1911.. In 1912, she gave birth to Laurence Denham at Illingsworth, Halifax, in Yorkshire. There were two other sons, Gerald (b. 1917) and Eric (b. 1919). Although she and Harry were Congregationalists, the three boys attended St. Hilda's Church, Gibraltar Road, Halifax, and were confirmed into the Church of England.
While it is clear from the linked biography of her son Laurence, that he emigrated to Australia after World War II, it is less clear that Evelyn lived in Tasmania, although there is an immigration record of Evelyn Denham arriving in Melbourne on 30th Nov. 1954.
While there was a memorial to her in St. John's Church, there is no definite information, such as a cemetery record, that she died in Australia, whereas Laurence is buried at Carr Villa Memorial Park, Launceston.
See linked biography for Laurence Denham for further details, including the memorial plaque inscription.
