Biography
Ada Blanche Bungey (nee Coulter) (1874 - 1949) was born on 27th April 1874 in Launceston. Her parents emigrated from Co. Cork, Ireland. Mr Coulter was police superintendent in Launceston.
She married Alfred Bungey on 12 Apr 1899 at St John's Church, Launceston. Their first three children were born at 82 Canning Street, Launceston: John Phayse, 28 Sep 1900; Joan Berenice, 28 Aug 1903 and Greta Joyce, 9 Nov 1907. The family had moved to 179 St John Street by the time Betty Maxine was born on 8 Jun 1911.
One of their four children married a descendant of the Revd John Youl, first clergyman of St. John’s Church. The Bungey family also attended St. John’s.
Ada died on 31st January 1949.

At St. John’s Church, a pair of finely carved flower pedestals was given by the family, one in memory of each parent. The inscriptions read:
IN MEMORY OF ALFRED BUNGEY 1947
IN MEMORY OF ADA BLANCHE BUNGEY 1949
