Historical Details
For some years, smaller Anglican churches in the Tamar region had struggled for viability - congregations large enough to justify the cost of ministry. The establishment of Riverlinks parish in 2003 was an earlier solution, but even Riverlinks was struggling for viability by the mid 2010s, and a BCA supported ministry at St. Leonards had failed to achieve viability for that parish.
At the same time, there was growing pressure for the Anglican Diocese to set aside very significant funds for compensation/redress arising from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse.
Under the incumbency of Revd. James Hornby at St. John's, and with the encouragement and direction of Bishop Richard Condie, the Network proposal was born.
