Biography
Arthur Green, (1842-1924) was the youngest of four sons of Richard Green snr and Hannah Jackson. See linked biography, including details of memorials at St. John's Church. He was a manager of the Launceston Gas Company, and involved in the Launceston Camera Club. He was also something of a poet, and is credited with the words and music of "Australia's Prayer and Thanksgiving" 1914

Arthur was born 3rd July 1842 and died 24th July 1924.
He was married at St. John's Church, Launceston at 3 pm on Sat. 15th April, 1876 to Florence, 2nd daughter of Charles James Weedon and Charlotte Weedon. They had five children; Harold, Eric, Vivyan, Elsie and Lionel.
Arthur Green, secretary/manager of the Launceston Gas Company at the time when the streets of Launceston were lit by gas, was a prolific writer of poetry, and his "In Memoriam" poems, by popular request, were published in book form in 1911 under the title "King Edward Sleeps" and other "In Memoriam" Poems. Proceeds of sale of the book were donated in aid of the King Edward memorial stained glass window, centrally located in the sanctuary at St. John's.
Arthur Green donated two large brass gasoliers to St. John's Church; these were subsequently sold and the proceeds used to erect a family memorial window in the choir vestry of the church.
The children of Arthur and Florence gave the stained-glass window featuring ‘St Matthew’ in memory of their parents It is in the south ambulatory. The inscription reads:
