Biography
Jane (Loder) Youl (1793 - 1877) is reputed to have been born on 26th Feb 1793 in a tent by the Tank Stream, Sydney Cove in the very new colony of New South Wales.Jane Ramsay (her birth surname) was the daughter of Captain George Ramsay, the captain of the ship "Kitty". She later became the adopted daughter of 'Sergeant' George Loder, gaoler and pound-keeper at Windsor, New South Wales, Australia at the time that he married her mother, Charlotte Stroud.
On 31 January 1810 at Parramatta Jane married The Reverend John Youl, who was soon to become the first chaplain to northern Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). They had six sons and three daughters.
She died in 1877 in Tasmania.
