Biography

Fanny Margaret Gillett (nee Parramore) (1888 - 1932) was a daughter of George Parramore, pastoralist, and Maria Jane, (nee Oakden), of 'Wetmore', Ross.
Her younger sister Mary had married  Robert Harry Gillett, co-principal of the Launceston Church Grammar School from 1895 to 1915. A daughter, Margaret Curzon Gillett, was born to Mary on 31st December 1910. Mary did not survive the rigours of childbirth and died the next day. The babe survived however, and eventually married T. G. H. Hogg.
After the death of Mary, Fanny married the widower, Robert Gillett. Their nuptials took place on 2nd January 1913. Fanny had two sons and two daughters and died about 1930.

In memory of these sisters two memorials were given. A stained-glass window featuring 'St. John', erected in the chapel at St. John's Church for Mary Elsie, and a beautiful carved altar in the Grammar School Chapel at Mowbray for Fanny Margaret. The two inscriptions read:
Window:
MARY ELSIE GILLETT
DECEMBER 31ST, 1910
Altar:
FANNY MARGARET GILLETT
